The color teal, also referred to as turquoise, foster meaning and interaction within the realms of advocacy, awareness, and most importantly – healing.


Teal and Turquoise offer up cool tones that visually provide comfort and inviting; inviting a safe place that welcomes those that are suffering from such afflictions or distress. It offers hope and reassurance that there is a light we can reach and seek for in the far distance, even in the darkest moments, which could unfortunately be suicidal ideation.


Someone with or without mental illness can be reminded of such empowerment and immediate action that they have. And it gives them the confidence to inspire those to gather together as a community, unite and raise awareness, provide and give support, and advocate for change in the mental health care systems.


Such awareness needs the community to be educated and to remove the stigma that “mental illness” isn’t REAL. Although it cannot be seen, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideations are real. They need a voice. They need validation. The feeling of neglect and absence from the community needs to be replaced with kindness and empathy. People with mental illness are fragile. Being sensitive to their temporary or life-long illness, as well as being validated by supporting them respect and acknowledgment moves mountains for them to feel like they matter. They are better people because they are part of this world, and they need to be reminded of that within the community. There needs to be a significant amount of change and increased support within the mental health care systems within and without the support of the government. There are frivolous and minute expenditures being made throughout the government. Advocating for financial adjustments to be adjusted, decreased, or nullified so those who need mental health assistance have adequate needs such services by providing medications, psychiatric treatments, psychological therapy. If people with mental illness were given these services, the poverty level would decrease because these people with mental illness could receive employment by function with adequate mental health care. This is where advocacy can ignite. Begin to research what services are withheld from those with mental illness and unite together to advocate for their rights as every other human being should receive within the medical scope of healthcare.


Lastly, the tranquil color of teal and turquoise provide connection to nature. In essence, it is the cornerstone that efforts are made through suicide prevention by the victim of mental illness, or through those that surround them in their darkness. Imagining the ocean or a clear blue sky, keeping them grounded and present, offers the release of such confusion within their minds. The feeling of peace and serenity bestows us the beautiful source of hope of emotional balance along their journey of the recovery of mental health.
